Jurassic Park: Trespasser

From the Jurassic Wiki:

Jurassic Park: Trespasser (also known as Trespasser) is a game, which was released in 1998 for Microsoft Windows after much hype and anticipation. Hyped as the digital sequel to The Lost World: Jurassic Park, the player assumes the role of Anne, the sole survivor of a plane crash on InGen's "Site B" one year after the events of The Lost World: Jurassic Park. With a fractured arm and only her wits, Anne must escape the remote island by evading hordes of hungry and vicious dinosaurs, or face the gruesome alternative. This was one of the least-successful Jurassic Park games ever released.

It's no secret to anybody nowadays that "Jurassic Park: Trespasser" was a failure. But when promotional material and hype stirred up for this game in 97, it was hard for anyone interested in PC gaming at the time to not show interest. Early promotional material and claims hyped trespasser up as the next ambitious leap for PC gaming, and the gaming press were clearly convinced. Early claims of the game boasted:

...but of course it was not to be, instead we got:

...and much more, but then we'd be here for hours so i'll just get straight to some pre-release images

...and hooooly SHIT! It's the 2020's and even i'm foaming at the mouth at this. Even though it's not particularly impressive nowadays, I think they still kick ass and would definitely hype me up in the late 90's. There's something so endearing and quite marvelous about these images, and I just love that T-rex with it's head through the door!

"The next generation in 3D gaming" my ass! But the trailer is undoubtedly still cool.

For a more in-depth look and playthough of Tresspasser, I recommend "Research Indicates" Pet's Play. He shows you every nook and cranny of this game, and could explain it better than I ever could. It's one of my favourite "Let's Play" series on the web, and his soothing voice even makes excellent background noise.
